Like other arthropoda the house centipede possesses an open cardiovascular system in which the heart forces blood through the body cavity to bathe internal tissues with nutrients from digestive system, along with oxygen. Their blood is colorless because the tracheae supplies oxygen directly to cells. The house centipede's blood is called hemolymph as it contains nutrients present in both blood and tissue fluid. The long, tubular heart pumps blood from the front of the centipede to the back.
