Cardiovascular System
Bengal tigers have a 4 chamber heart as part of their cardiovascular system, which is a closed, 2 loop system. Similar to a human's cardiovascular system, deoxygenated blood travels through a tiger's body to the heart and lungs through the first loop, and then back the opposite way through the second loop. As this occurs, the tigers breathe in oxygen and dispel carbon dioxide. Their hearts have 2 receiving (atria) chambers and 2 transport chambers (ventricles). The ventricles are thicker than the atria, and blood is pumped out through the heart's thick muscular walls.
